Ship with Humanitarian Aid to Cuba Ready to Depart from Mexico

Havana, July 19 (acn) A ship with humanitarian aid to Cuba and with the 
members of the 18th US Pastor for Peace Friendshipment Caravan is to 
depart for Cuba on Thursday from Tampico, Mexico.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, after crossing the US-Mexico 
border under the harassment of US security agents, the caravan was 
heading on Wednesday to the port of Tampico, from where they will 
continue their trip to Cuba.

Ellen Bernstein, spokeswoman of the religious organization Pastors for 
Peace, said that US custom authorities confiscated 12 computers, part 
of the shipment of donations destined to the Cuban people.

The Granma news daily on Thursday publishes an article wrote by 
Reverend Luis Barrios, member of the Interreligious Foundation for 
Community Organization (IFCO) that sponsors the Pastors for Peace 
caravan.

In the text, taken from the El Diario-La Prensa news daily in New York, 
Reverend Barrios wrote: "We continue challenging the arbitrary, immoral 
and inhuman blockade that, for over 40 years, the US government has 
used to punish Cuba for establishing a socialist democracy in 1959."
