Colonel Edmundo Nogales, Deputy Chief of the Department Command of La Paz, said that the quality of the attention given by the island's health personnel is extraordinary. In a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, Rafel DausC!a, and with health authorities at a hospital and an ophthalmologic center donated by the island to the Andean nation, Nogales recognized the improvement of the Bolivian people's quality of life. According to Prensa Latina news agency, the official also stressed the importance of Cuba's solidarity with the revolutionary process that President Evo Morales leads in Bolivia. Cuban doctors in that country have thus far treated more than five million patients and saved more than seven thousand lives.
