Cuban Stamp Collectors Receive Awards in World Exhibition

Havana, July 5 (acn) For the first time, Cuban stamp collectors were 
awarded gold medals in the category of Vermeil in the A and C age 
groups during the World Stamp Exhibition 2007 held in Saint Petersburg, 
Russia, from June 18th to the 26th.

Daniel Montes Peralta (Group C, 19 years old) won the award with the 
collection Colonial Cuba while AdriC!n FernC!ndez GuzmC!n (Group A, 15 
years old) did it with Cuba's Pre-Philatelic Postal Marks.

In the meantime, JosC) RamC3n MallC3n received another medal for his 
collection Study of the Emission of the Duty-Free Zone of Matanzas 
while, in the category of adults, JosC) Ignacio Abreu won a gold medal 
and received another award from the jury for his collection Cuban 
Pre-Philately.

The jury, formed by some 50 people, mainly from Europe and Asia, 
granted the Grand Prize of the event to a collection from Thailand.

The stamp exhibition was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir 
Putin who expressed his support for this activity that constitutes a 
way to promote cultural values among the youth.

Collections from 80 countries were exhibited during the event.
