According to the President of the Cuban parliament, Ricardo Alarcon, at a meeting with members of the University Students Federation (FEU) in this capital, over 350,000 youngsters throughout the island will exercises their right to vote for the first time. Alarcon stressed the importance of the participation of new generations in the electoral process and noted that Cuban democracy has always promoted a close relationship between the delegates and their voters, reports Juventud Rebelde newspaper. For his part, FEU president Carlos Lage Codorniu expressed his organization's commitment to contribute with talks and debates at the university branches on the preparation of the electoral process. Cuban municipal and provincial authorities are elected every two and a half years while parliamentarian elections are held every five years.
