During the graduation ceremony, held at the Karl Marx theater in Havana, Dr. Alina Ruiz Jhones, vice rector of the institution, said that the leader of the Cuban Revolution is a source of inspiration, a founder of dreams and the main promoter of the use of information technologies for the benefit of the homeland and humanity. For his part, Carlos Manuel Valenciaga, member of the Council of State and of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, congratulated the 1,334 graduates and recalled that the UCI is the result of the thoughts and ideas of Fidel Castro. He noted that this education center was created to spread the study of computer sciences and, after only five years, its enrollment has increased from 2,483 to 16,395 students. In addition, he said, there are more than 39,000 students in poli-technical schools of information sciences. The students of this school helped in the treatment of more than 27,000 patients from sister nations as part of the Operation Miracle free eye-surgery program; 67 of them participated in internationalist missions in Venezuela and more than 5,000 students and 500 of its professors are linked to productive projects that are yielding incomes that already surpass the cost of its construction, Valenciaga stressed. All of the graduates have a job guaranteed and 1,134 of them will be working with important ministries and with institutions that manage essential economic resources, he added. Valenciaga also criticized the brain drain that the world witnesses today with more than 90% of the scientific force located in the seven most industrialized nations on the planet. On behalf of the graduates, TaychC) Capote GarcC-a reaffirmed the graduates' loyalty to the Cuban Revolution and their decision to defend the homeland at any cost, anywhere. * ================================================================ .NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems .
