Lima Bar Assn to Chilean Court: Send Fujimori Home

Lima, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) The Lima Bar Association affirmed on
Thursday that the Chilean Supreme Court has the opportunity to make a
gesture of rectitude and honor during the final hearings to decide
whether to extradite ex-Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori to Peru.

Lima Bar Association president Luz Aurea Saenz said that she hopes the
judges understand how important Fujimori's extradition is for many
Peruvians, so that he faces corruption and human rights charges in his
home country.

She also assured that the Lima Bar Association considers extradition
legitimate, with enough objective evidence to justify it, and that she
trusts the Supreme Court will make the right decision.

There have been rumors of pressure of obscure origin on the court
against extradition, as well as possible pressure because of Peru's
relationship with Japan, where Fujimori holds dual citizenship.
