Reforms Aim to Give More Power to the People, Says Chavez

Caracas, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) The draft constitutional reform in
Venezuela seeks to give more power to the people in order to wipe out
poverty and exclusion, President of the Republic Hugo Chavez said on
Tuesday.

In remarks to foreign journalists accredited to Venezuela, Chavez said
the initiative is "oriented to transformation and to step up dynamics
in a process which already has elements to display."

However, he admitted, "it is far from social justice;" therefore, we
need to redistribute power in favor of the majority.

The people's power is based in the new social structure, new outlines
of property, "it is a formula to find social equality, justice and
cohesion on the path to socialism," said Chavez.
