Paraguayan Candidates Trade Accusations

Asuncion, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Verbal attacks between Paraguayan
presidential candidates from the governing Colorado Party (PC)
escalated on Thursday, attracting the attention of voters.

According to PC President and precandidate Jose Alberto Alderete, the
other precandidate for the governing party, Blanca Ovelar, is not
supported by public opinion, due to her work as education minister.

He said that many irregularities were committed during the time she was
education minister, casting doubts about her capacity to rule.

For his part, ex Vice President Luis Castiglioni was criticized by his
party peers on Thursday for his desire to stand out and for lacking a
solid political platform.

According to PC Senator Juan Galavera, the ex vice president has no
party projection and has little knowledge of Paraguayan history.
