MAS: Illegal "Democracy Board" Trying to Divide Bolivia

La Paz, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) The creation of a so-called Democratic
Board made up of the six departments' civic leaders is another attempt
to divide Bolivia, denounced senators from the ruling Movement towards
Socialism (MAS) Friday.

According to legislator Gabriel Hebras from MAS, the Board is illegal
and is trying to gather forces opposed to the government of President
Evo Morales.

Legislator Carlos Romero said that any entity, no matter how democratic
it seems, cannot be institutionalized without Congressional approval.

The Democratic Board divides us and since its very beginning demands
the concentration of the legislative, executive and judicial powers in
Sucre, added the official.

Authorities of the so-called Media Luna (Beni, Pando, Santa Cruz and
Tarija), plus representatives of Chuquisaca and Cochambamba, founded
the so-called Bolivian Democratic Board to fix new protests for
September 3.

They also demanded cancelation of August 15's Resolution which
prohibits removal of the government headquarters in La Paz since 1899.
