US-Cuba Friendshipment Caravan Faces Washington Harassment

Havana, July 18 (acn) Agents of the US Department of Homeland Security 
detained members of the 18th Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba Tuesday on 
the border with Mexico.

Federal officers searched the vehicles of the caravan members and 
confiscated several computers, part of the shipment of donations 
destined to the Cuban people, reports Granma newspaper.

This is a battle of David against Goliath and Goliath knows he is 
losing, commented Reverend Luis Barrios, member of the Interreligious 
Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO) that sponsors the Pastors 
for Peace caravan.

The group is made up of 150 activists from Canada, the United States, 
Mexico and several European countries who consider the nearly half 
century US blockade on Cuba immoral.

This year, the caravan includes a dozen vehicles and around 90 tons of 
donations, mainly medical supplies which they hope to transport to Cuba 
by the end of this week.
