Peniska, Indian Country Today, Rapid City, S.D. Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News SPOKANE, Wash.--Nov. 10--A business that originated in the '80's to work for car dealerships to keep car keys safe, is now working for some northwest tribes. Key-Trak, and their Northwest Key Control Systems, have been working with two casinos of the Spokane Tribe of Washington for the past year. Two Rivers Casino and Spokane Indian Bingo are the latest beneficiaries of modern key safeguarding technology. Key-Trak is a national corporation with offices located in many major cities of the United States, Canada, and overseas. World-wide services provided by Key-Trak gives customers "total key control," according to Tim Groh, who is a northwest represenative of the company. "One of the biggest problems for casinos is employees forget and take keys home," Mr. Groh said. "I was brought in by the casinos to train people about the Key-Trak system." After completing a five hour training session which takes employees through the ins and outs of operating Key-Trak and puts the system on-line, casino management find, "Complete key control is the outcome of this system," added Mr. Groh. "This system can do key audits, tell you how many times a key was used, who used it, and even has a built in time-clock." With so many Indian casinos opening their doors, security and key safety are becoming more and more of a top priority for managers. Mr. Groh believes he will be able to help other tribes develop more modern and efficient key control systems. "Wer'e looking to serve the Indian community," Mr. Groh said. "We basically want to let the casino's know that we are here and we are available." Besides providing key control to theses two casinos, they also offer their services to many recognizable businesses including: Casinos of Nevada, Federal Express, UPS, and most recently the Post Office, as well as many other businesses and organizations.
