There are more than 600,000 Indigenous people in Chile, and most of them belong to the Mapuches. In a letter to the Government Thursday the signatories recalled "Indigenous people's rights are still violated in different ways so it is necessary to have guidelines to finish with this situation." The UN Declaration on the Indigenous people's Rights was adopted in July 2006 in Geneva by the UN Human Rights Council (CDH). One of the promoters of the Declaration, Nancy Yaqez, Director of the Observatory of the Indigenous People's Rights, said that Chile has been ambiguous regarding the Declaration, which can no longer be tolerated. Chile systematically violates indigenous people's rights, with actions like the seizure of the ancient territories and natural resources, she added. sus abo jl mf * ================================================================ .NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems .
