Join the governor of Montana, the head of the National Congress of American Indians, and journalists from Native American publications in a discussion of communications and contemporary Native Americans. Other participants include American Indian leaders, Native and Non-Native opinion makers, congressional staff and members of Congress, religious leaders, and other advocates. The symposium will be held in Washington, DC following a meeting of Native American leaders. The event will include discussions comparing and contrasting the current challenges and realities in Indian Country with the public images portrayed in the media; focused workshops to create a better representation of Native Americans in the news and entertainment industries; and presentations on the effect a compelling Native narrative would have on public policy.
