Ward Churchill (Keetoowah Band Cherokee) is one of the most outspoken of
Native American activists and scholars in North America and a leading analyst
of
indigenous issues. Recently, passages from his book, On The Justice of
Roosting
Chickens, written in proximidity to the catasprophic events of 9/11 created a
frightening backlash threatening Churchill's life and livelihood.Churchill
addresses
the firestorm and explores themes of genocide, racism, historical and legal
(re)interpretation of conquest and colonization, and government repression of
political movements.
