Dear Roger,

In order to continue our pursuit of the Japanese whalers this season and prevent them from their illegal operations in the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary, the Steve Irwin is returning to port in Melbourne, Australia this Saturday on February 2nd. We're hoping to renew our supplies, our fuel, and our crew in order to resume Operation Migaloo.  We are encouraged because we have found the key to saving the whales- keeping the whalers on the run.
Steve Irwin returns to Melbourne to refuel

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's ship Steve Irwin will be returning to Melbourne and is estimated to arrive at Victoria docklands, wharf 3 at approximately 1400 Hours on February 2nd. This is the same dock we departed from- please come join us!

Says Captain Watson:

"I would like to turn the ship around within 10 days. We have new crew flying in from around the world... This is a retreat for supplies only, we have not surrendered the Sanctuary to the whale killers. We will be back as soon as possible."

We need your help for crew and supplies!

The whales need us to return to the southern ocean whale sanctuary- we need your support to defend the whales!

We currently need dedicated volunteers who are willing to brave the cold of Antarctica to help save hundreds of whales. Skills needed include: chefs, diesel engineers, navigators, photographers and more!

We also need fuel (which supporters can help sponsor) and plenty of vegetarian food items to last us the rest of the whaling season.

When the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin was chasing the harpoon vessels, not a single whale was slain from January 8th through January 30th.  Japanese whaling was effectively shut down for three weeks while we kept them on the run. Now we intend to return to the whale sanctuary and continue to keep them on the run until the end of the season and we need your help to do it.
