I want to thank everyone who has written in response to my piece about 
sexual violence in the military that ran on the Los Angeles Times Blowback 
site earlier this week, the feedback has truly been gratifying. And I do 
apologize to those of you that I have not responded to personally--I have 
truly been overwhelmed by the mail volume.

Our continuing coverage of what is happening to women in Kenya led one 
person to comment on the blog that the violence that is taking place there 
is neither new or unique.  I couldn't agree more, and a quick glance at the 
posts below will confirm that indeed, ongoing misogynist violence is a 
global issue and is happening to women everywhere.  What is also true is 
that this violence is grossly invisibilized by the mainstream media and it 
is our hope that by publishing the reports that we are able to find (and 
that the mainstream press could find too if they were so inclined) about 
what is happening in Kenya, we will make this violence more visible so that 
it cannot be ignored.--Lucinda
