Dear Roger,

As the Japanese whaling season draws near, Sea Shepherd is gearing up with final preparations for Operation Migaloo. Now we need your continuing support, more than ever!

After the success of our 30th Anniversary gala, we are turning the spotlight to the plight of the whales in Antarctica in the coming months.  The ship is getting ready and we are working to raise awareness of our efforts to protect the humpacks, fins and piked whales of the Antarctic whale sanctuary.
Sea Shepherd's 30th Anniversary Gala "Breaking the Ice" a success

Sea Shepherd's 30th Anniversary Gala "Breaking the Ice" in Santa Monica, California on October 13th was a huge success. Crew and supporters from around the world joined together to celebrate 30 years of ocean wildlife protection.

Many celebrities were in attendance to enjoy musical performances, live and silent auctions, a vegan meal, and award presentations to our Crewmembers of the Year and to the Red Hot Chili Peppers for their long term support.

Award-winning film "Sharkwater" to open in theaters nationally on November 2

Sharkwater banner
Internationally acclaimed documentary "Sharkwater" is opening in select cities across the US on November 2nd.

Producer Rob Stewart teamed up with Sea Shepherd to uncover the illegal trade of shark fins. The adventure resulted in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.

Robert Hunter damage repaired

Robert Hunter repairedThe bow of the Sea Shepherd ship Robert Hunter has been repaired. The damage was caused when our ship was deliberately rammed by the Japanese whaling ship Kaiko Maru in February of this year. The Japanese blamed us and accused the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society of ramming them.

There is much work to be done, but with your help, we will continue to fight for marine wildlife all over the world. As we prepare for this year's Antarctic whale defense campaign, Operation Migaloo, your continued support ensures that we will be positioned and fully outfitted to head from Australia to the waters of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary to oppose illegal Japanese whaling. The whales are counting on us for protection, and I thank-you for getting us there.

For the oceans,
Watson Signature
