[NYTr] Media: Bizarre Coverage of New Latin Amer Poll on Leaders Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2007 12:29:05 -0500 (CDT) Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit [Well, it wouldn't be hard for almost anyone to be more popular than Bush, anywhere on earth. So VIO overstates it just a smidgen. But the coverage from UPI and Merco Press VIO reproducees here is utterly laughable in the other direction. One would need to see the poll results in detail to understand what it means. Chile's Bachelet is rated, but Chileans weren't in the sample, nor were Cubans (but Fidel Castro was one of the leaders rated.) And why didn't they include los gringos if Bush is rated? Looks hinky from here.-NY Transfer] excerpted from VIO Venezuela News Roundup - Oct 2, 2007 [A new public opinion poll shows that President Chavez is far more popular in Latin America than is President Bush. United Press International reports on the results, noting that Chavez is liked by 38% of Latin Americans, and disliked by 45%.
