November 9, 2007
Dear Roger,

With just a few weeks to go before the launch of Operation Migaloo, Sea Shepherd is hard at work with final preparations for our next Whale Defense Campaign to Antarctica. Captain Watson continues reaching out to the Australian and New Zealand communities, while our activities in Taiji, Japan and our coverage in The New Yorker magazine bring our work defending ocean wildlife to the attention of the global community.
Surfers expose pilot whale slaughter in Taiji
Pro-surfer and Sea Shepherd supporter Dave Rastovich led a team of surfers to the infamous Taiji cove to paddle out to captured pilot whales and conduct a traditional surfers' memorial circle to honor the whales and dolphins that have died there.

The six paddlers, including Rastovich, his wife and mermaid model Hannah Fraser, Heroes TV star Hayden Panettiere, Australian actress Isabel Lucas, author Peter Heller, and professional surfer Karina Petroni, were met by angry fishermen.

There is much work to be done, but with your help, we will continue to fight for marine wildlife all over the world. As we prepare for this year's Antarctic whale defense campaign, Operation Migaloo, your continued support ensures that we will be positioned and fully outfitted to head from Australia to the waters of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary to oppose illegal Japanese whaling. The whales are counting on us for protection, and I thank-you for getting us there.

For the oceans,
