First, thanks for bothering to open this email. That might sound funny, but statistics show that most of us now ignore emails like this one because we are swamped and because we're tired of too many solicitations.

Our independent investigative reporting on war propaganda, fake TV news, special interest front groups and political spin is award winning. Every week we research and report on critical topics, compiling our Weekly Spin email and now producing the Weekly Radio Spin to blow the lid off the PR behind the news.

When the pro-war front group Freedom's Watch launched, we were there immediately to reveal who was behind them, their connections and motives, and within a day our www.SourceWatch.org article on them shot to the top of Google returns. If you google Freedom's Watch, you'll see what I mean. Our Congresspedia article sticks like a burr at the top of search engine returns.

Our Congresspedia Project (www.congresspedia.org) is one of the best and most visited websites on every single member of Congress and pending legislation. The TobaccoWiki project (www.tobaccowiki.org) has become a powerful tool in the fight against Big Tobacco, the business that practically invented spin and is still at it today.

To keep our work going and growing we need to raise $800,000 for the Center for Media and Democracy in 2008. We refuse to accept grants from corporations, labor unions or governments. We depend completely on individuals like you and non-profit foundations to support our work.
