Dear Roger,

There is a great deal of activity going on in the ocean conservation realm today.

In one part of the world, barbaric Japanese hunters have returned home with only half of their intended quota and a badly damaged ship, which resulted in over 500 whales being saved from destined slaughter. In another part of the world, a flotilla of government-subsidized murderers are struggling to make their way through wind-ravaged ice floes in order to seek out and bludgeon innocent harp seals.

Despite the thousands of miles between these events, Sea Shepherd staff and volunteers are actively working on these and a multitude of other ocean defense issues around the globe. I am pleased to share our efforts with you, our loyal supporter.

Neptune's Rage Crushes Sealers In Ice
Life Threatening Conditions Stop Brutal Killers

Coast Guard Breaks Ice for Seal KillersThe crews from over a dozen sealing ships have been removed from their damaged vessels by the Canadian Coast Guard. In total, nearly one hundred small sealing vessels remain trapped in rafting ice that northeast winds have shoved up against the coast of Newfoundland. The pressure on the ice is not expected to lift for another week.

"This is fantastic news," said Sea Shepherd Founder and President Captain Paul Watson. "This is nature's revenge on the armada of seal killing vessels. Like the Spanish Armada, the fleet is being shattered and damaged, and most importantly, they are not able to kill seals."

So far, no sealers have been injured or have been killed, but the damage to sealing vessels is extensive.

Top Free Pro Surfer Dave Rastovich Speaks Out for Cetaceans

Surfer Magazine Features Sea Shepherd's Mission

Captain Watson and Pro-Surfer Dave RastovichTop free pro surfer Dave Rastovich does more than just ride the ocean for fun, he is also an outspoken activist for the animals that live where he plays.

This passion for whales, dolphins, and other marine creatures motivated Rastovich to form Surfers for Cetaceans, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating surfers about the problems of wildlife exploitations and pollution in our oceans.

Rastovich and Surfers for Cetaceans have been working on some upcoming projects up with Captain Watson and Sea Shepherd to further promote conservation efforts at sea - including a full-page article in the March 2007 edition of Surfer Magazine.
