IPS-English UAE: Fifteen nationals evacuated from blaze-stricken California Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2007 16:07:07 -0700 Att.Editors: The following item is from the Emirates News Agency (WAM) WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 (WAM) - Some 15 out of 25 United Arab Emirates (UAE) citizens living in San Diago in the fire-hit California were evacuated by air to Seattle, the UAE diplomatic mission here said. San Diago is among the worst affected areas. A committee chaired by UAE Ambassador in Washington Saqr Gobash is following up conditions of UAE citizens in the areas affected by massive fire in southern California. The committee has made constant contacts with citizens living there to enquire about their conditions and meet their urgent requirements. The committee said that: “The citizens who opted to stay are living in safe areas that are far away from the zones of danger. They were told to keep in touch with the mission”. The Ambassador explained that Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is calling him on a regular basis to ensure that UAE citizens are safe and well. He added that Sheikh Abdullah has directed him to provide UAE citizens at fire-affected areas with all their needs. (WAM) (WAM)
