PROTEST AT ISRAELI MISSION TO UN - TUESDAY, JULY 18, 2006 4:30 PM

Given the grave situation in the Middle East, and the increasing loss of
life, (several Israelis, scores of Lebanese), and the real danger of a much
wider conflict, I think it is important for a wide range of views to be
present at 4:30 on Tuesday at the Israeli Mission to the UN.

There are a number of groups cosponsoring this rally including the 
International Solidarity Movement, the Arab-American Muslim Federation, 
the National Council of Arab-Americans, and ANSWER.  I've been told that 
ANSWER is playing a very small role in the rally and few of their 
members will be present.  I hope that doesn't stop your participation.

A CALL TO ACTION: DEMONSTRATION AT ISRAELI MISSION TO THE UN ON TUESDAY
    
PROTEST ATTACKS ON LEBANON AND THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE!
    
DEMAND FREEDOM FOR LEBANESE AND PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS!
    
When: Tuesday July 18, 2006 - 4:30 p.m.
    
Where: Israeli Mission to the UN, at 2nd Ave. between E 42nd and 43rd Sts., NY
    
Why: The Israeli military is expanding its operations from Palestine to
Lebanon. It has killed scores of Lebanese civilians and bombed essential
civilian infrastructure, such as the Beirut airport. Simultaneously, the
Israeli military continues its deadly attacks on Gaza and its stifling
economic blockade . True to form, Israel continues its aggressive
expansionism in efforts to suppress all resistance to its oppressive,
illegal policies toward the people of the region.
    
Come to a protest and demonstration to demand action now to stop the killing
of Lebanese and Palestinians, hold Israel accountable for its crimes, and
free all Lebanese and Palestinian political prisoners.
    
Bring signs, candles, and slogans. We have a common struggle and history is
on our side. Come out and show your solidarity.
    
Also the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is
having a pro-Israel rally on Monday at the same spot, likely in response to
our protests. We are thus having an impact and need to be out there the next
day to maintain the pressure. The Conference will be at 42nd Street and 2nd
Avenue at 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday the 17th, so all are encouraged to show
up there with flags and flyers.
