Several of the thousants of demonstrators were wounded in the battles with the police. One policeman of the Bundesgrenzschutz garding the track was accidentally killed by a another passing train. On saturday there was a 12.000 person demonstration against the accellerated transport in Muenster. 10 km into its journey the train was stopped by protesters who had chained and cemented themselves to the track. SOFIA March 20 1998 (Reuters) - A consortium of European nuclear companies will sign on Tuesday an US $208 6 million agreement with Bulgaria's National Electricity Company to modernise the Kozloduy nuclear power plant consisting four 440 mw and two 1000 mw reactors. The US firm Westinghouse will sign for another US $70 - million. NEW DELHI India March 20 1998 (UPI) _ The new government of India wants to keep the nuclear weapons open despite the international opposition. The reasons are the maintaining of the national integrety and India's unity. The development of medium range ballistic missiles will be speeded up as a reaction on the possession of long-range missiles by Pakistan. India and Pakistan both have not signed the comprehensive test ban treaty. ISLAMABAD March 19 1998 (Reuters) - According to the Pakistan Foreign Ministry there could be a review of the Pakistan peaceful nuclear program if India wants to keep its option open for the development of nuclear weapons. PORTSMOUTH N.H. USA March 20 1998 (Reuters) - According to the US Nuclear Regulary Commission the Seabrook nuclear power in Portsmouth plant runs with an insufficient emergency cooling system. The regular cooling system is not properly maintained. The NRC will visit the plant on Tuesday. Another emergency cooling system was leaking for more than a year.
