1988
gave informations about a project to develop an atomic
bomb in Taiwn. The informations led to a stop of this project.

Jan 15 `98 (AFP) - The refuse of the Duma to discuss
the Start II treaty in its first decade does not correspond
with Russia`s national interests.
A spokesman of President Yeltsin complained it would impair
Russia`s limitation plans of stratetic armaments and its
relation to the USA.

reported Thursday
a reactor at the Kursk nuclear power plant
600 kilometres (375 miles) south of Moscow was put out of
operations because of leaks in its pressurised water system.
The reactor is of the same type as the exploded Chernobyl
reactor.

Commonwealth Edison`s (ComEd) Zion nuclear power plant
situated in the North of Chicago which has been put out of
operations for a certain time shall become definitely shut
down because of economical reasons.
The executive director of the Environmental Law and Policy
Center congratulated ComEd to this decision seeing it as a
chance for a development of cleaner power resources in
Illinois.

on IAEA`a demand for knowledge about probable nuclear key
points in the country. But as IAEA reported to the UN security
council they are still in talks with Iraq.

Jan 15 `98 (Reuters) - On Monday President B.
Clinton signed the formal papers to lift the ban which lies on
nuclear technology transports to China. The certification was
made after the US were assured that China has met the nuclear
non-proliferation requirements.
The US Congress still has 30 legislative days to review the
certification.
