NEW YORK 20 nov. (AFP)/ 24 nov. `97 (Reuters) - At the
conference in New York about the rebuilding of the sarcophagus
around the damaged Chernobyl reactor another $37 million could
be raised. With this money first works can begin but there`s
still a lot of money missing to cover the total costs of $ 760
million.

Nov 20 `97 (AFP) - In an accord between Russia and
Kazakhstan
Russia has pledged to gave its assistance in
building a nuclear power station in Kazakhstan. The works
shall begin in 1999.

Nov 21 `97 (AFP) - At the closed door meeting
of the UN special commission (UNSCOM) to discuss further
instruction towards Iraq
Russia gave a call to assure that
Iraq no longer has a nuclear capability and that the ban
against Iraq maybe soon can be lifted.

station in the South of the Ukraine one reactor was closed
down because of a radiation leak in the cooling system. Two
others have been off lined for upkeep and will probably be
restarted at the end of December.

where another $73 were raised to rebuild the sarcophagus in
Chernobyl
President of the Ukraine Leonid Kuchma told that
wild-ranging repairing works now can begin. According to him
Ukraine achieved to point out the importance of such works at
the conference.

Nov 24 `97 (Reuters) - A French commercial court ruled
out last Friday that Electricite de France has to stop its TV-
spot promotion in which the advantages of nuclear energy are
described. Especially France`s oil industry association

l`Union Francaise des Industries Petrolieres feeled itself
menaced by this program because it showes a frightning
scenario of what would happen if France had to import more
crude oil instead the use of nuclear power.



BRUSSELS
Nov 24 `97 (AFP) - In the meeting between Nato and
Russia which took place this Monday the prevention of the
proloferation of biological
chemical and nuclear weapons have
been discussed. Russia asked for helped to dismantle its
chemical weapons stockpile.
A NATO official said the talks had been very effective and
maybe another step forward to let East European countries join
the NATO.
