Nov 14 `97 (AFP) - According to atomic energy officials
the irradiated cat eyes found on the Asian markets aren`t
dangerous because they have a "natural" radiation level.
In the opposite Bangkok`s Centre for Gemstones is warning of the
stones because some of them are saled by dealers who don`t store
the cat eyes after the irradiation
so that they have a very high
radiation level.



MOSCOW
Nov 15 `97 (AFP) - The Ukraine wants Russia to
participate in building two nuclear power stations which they see
as absolutely important for their country. But they still like
to have the financial support from the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development.



WASHINGTON 17 nov ` 97 (Reuters)/Minneapolis Nov. 15 (UPI) - On
Fryday the US court of appeals voted to charge the Department of
Energy to find possibilities to store atomic waste but it won`t
have to remove it.
A majority in the Congress and the atomic industry want the
government to build a nuclear waste dump at the Nevada test side
which would be ready in 2002.

hasn`t extended a health contract with the US company Mercy
International Health Service (MIHS) in Oct.1
they are now asking
for a new company to take out the two million dollar US medical
care program for the Marshall Islands which have been affected

Nov 17 `97 (AFP) - The former Indian scientist from
the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in India N. Sarma assured that
irradiated gemstones didn`t come from India claiming that there
was no possibility to do so.
He added however that gems had been exported to irradiate them
in Germany and Thailand.

Nov. 14 `97 (UPI) - Clinton has began a four-day four-
state trip in Nevada where he has been celebrated in spite of the
conservative majority because of his pledge to veto the Congress
legislation to establish a nuclear waste dump at the Nevada Test
Site until the completion of a permanent dump at Yucca Mountain
100 miles of Las Vegas in 2010.



Pittsburgh 17 nov `97 (Reuters)- General Westinghouse Electric
Corp. wants to change from an industrial to a media company
changing its name probably at 1 Dec. to CBS Corp.
It saled its power generating business to the German Siemens AG
which gets thereby great control over the world`s power
generation market.
