MOSCOW
Nov 12 `97 (AFP) - The Russian Nuclear Energy Ministry
got the permission by the government to sale one kilogram of
highly enriched uranium to Indonesia for medical uses.



TOKYO
Nov 12 `97 (AFP) - Japan would like to reduce its
greenhouse emissions. Therefore a governmental committee made the
proposal to build 20 new nuclear power plants. This proposal was
also made with regard to the United Nations Climate conference
which will take place in Japan (Kyodo) from the first till the
10th of December and which will be occupied to find solutions to
cut greenhouse gases.



BANGKOK
Nov. 12 `97 (UPI) -- Thailand rejects accuses to use
methods bombarding cat eye gemstones with neutrons in a nuclear
reactor to let them change their colour from yellow to a dark
brown which makes them more valuable.
According to the Thai Gem and Jewelery Traders Association this
practices are used in India and Sri Lanka.

Nov 12 `97 (Reuters) - British nuclear electricity
generator British Energy PLc and the local electricity company
Southern Electric have started together a generating joint
venture.



SEOUL
Nov 12 `97 (AFP) - In 1994 the US signed an agreement with
North Korea to build nuclear light water reactors (LWR) there as
prevention of the suspected North Korean nuclear weapon program.
To build the reactors the Korean Peninsula Energy Development
Organization (KEDO) was formed by Washington
Seoul and Tokyo but
there was nothing agreed about the share of the costs for the
reactors. On Wednesday the US head of Kedo Desaix Anderson
visited South Korea for talks with the South Korean Foreign
Minister Yoo Chong-Ha
but there the question about who will pay
for the LWR project wasn`t mentioned again.



BANGKOK
Thailand 12 nov (Reuters) `97 - The dark brown colourd
cat eyes are the gemstones which as the Center for Gemstone
Testing in Bangkok found out are irradiated.
An indian dealer is known who has sold them working out for the
Indonesian industry. So the source of these stones is maybe India
or Indonesia.
The stones are really radioactive waste and anybody who will find
one has to bring it to a lead lined container where it has to lie
till the following century.




WASHINGTON
Nov. 12 `97 (UPI) -- The nuclear project in  Juragua
(Cuba) which was started to be build up with Soviet- era
technology similar to the Chernobyl construction is far away from
beeing finished a US research group visiting Cuba because of US
fears of a nuclear disaster  found out.
