TORONTO Sept 4 (UPI) - One of the units of Pickering npp had to shutdown after a leak of 2 1/2 liters of heavy water from the moderator heat exchange system. SYDNEY Sept 4 (AFP) - The Australian government has decided to rebuild a nuclear reactor in Sydney. The currently existing reactor is being used to produce radioisotopes for medical use. The decision to rebuild the reactor in Sydney instead of building a plant elsewhere was inspired on the fact that the shortlived isotopes need to be produced near an airport so they don't deteriorate before reaching there destination. ====================================================================== World Information Service on Energy - WISE PO Box 59636 Tel: +31-20-6126368 1040 LC Amsterdam Fax: +31-20-6892179 The Netherlands Email: wiseamster@antenna.nl (Visitors: Ketelhuisplein 43) http://antenna.nl/~wise ======================================================================
