Sept 3 1997 (Reuter) - Fixing the nuclear
problems is one of the main failures in the electricity
deregulation compromise between Northeast Utilities with New
Hamshire. Another failure which causes financial troubles is
managing the transition to competition while the three
Millstone reactors are closed for safety reasons since March
1996.


MAINE
Sept 3 1997 (Reuter) - A report for state regulators
blamed bad management for creating $95.9 million
'unreasonable' costs on repairs of Maine Yankee nuclear power
plant. The owners of the plant are confused. After an attempt
to sell the npp (that failed)
the owners in August decided to
permanently close it down. The reactor was supposed to be in
operation till 2008.


WASHINGTON
Sept 3 1997 (Reuter) - A new cheaper generation of
1353 long-range 'Tomahawk' cruise missiles is deployed in
December 2002 which can stay for ours in the air. The Navy
said it can be programmed in flight to hit moving targets with
'conventional' warheads.
