Raytheon Corporation of the United
States and a Turkish engeneering company have formed a tender
corporation to build a 1.7 billion nuclear power plant in
Turkey of two to four units with a total output of 2000 to
2800 megawatts. Hitachi will also participate in a consortium
with Atomic Energy of Canada ltd.

Aug 25 (AFP) -  Experts estimate the 1.7 billion US
dollars for the Turkish nuclear power plant is an
underestimation. The two former tenders to build these plants
were cancelled for the lack of money.


SASKATOON
Aug. 25 (BUSINESS WIRE) The Atomic Energy Control
Board of Canada has approved August 22 the beginning of the
construction of the $400 million McArthur River uranium
project in northern Saskatchewan. This is knwn to be the world
largest uranium deposit. The production by Cameco is supposed
to start in 1999.


CANBERRA Aug 25 (Reuter)
For Australia's F111 striker bombers the defence Minister
considers to buy long range cruise missiles. The danger of
starting a cruise-missile arms race between the south Asian
coutries is feared by the defence analyst Andrew Mack.
