Feb 21, 1997 (UPI) - According to New York Sen. alfonse
D'Amato, as quoted by the New York Times, tests conducted by
the Environmental Protection Agency have shown that the
groundwater around Long Island's Brookhaven National
Laboratory has not been contaminated by a tritium leak
discovered in 1994.

Feb 23, 1997 (Reuter) - Russian Prime Minister Victor
Chernomyrdin visited the Russian nuclear forces on Friday and
said in a television interview he found everything "in the
highest state of readiness. The inspection was meant to
counter Defense minister Igor Rodionov, who had voiced concern
about the state of Russian nuclear forces.

the low-level nuclear waste site at Hanford, near Richland.
