This would be due to the gouvernmental energy politics, which would provide no positive signals for the nuclear industry, a spokeswoman said. The other dutch NPP, the 449 MW Borssele plant, shall be shut down in 2004. 2 Oct 1996 (Reuter) - A pilot biomass-fired power plant shall be build in Belarus by Wheelabrator Technologies Inc of Hampton, New Hampshire. It is planned to use conaminated wood and litter from the belorussian forests, which are situated close to Chernobyl. The radioactive elements, mainly Strontium and Cesium would remain in the ashes, which could later be stored as low level radioactive waste. Another benefit of the project would be to reduce Belarus' dependence on imported energy.
