Clinton will later on meet with Chinese President Jiang Zemin, also addressing nuclear proliferation. Nov 17, 1996 (Reuter) - A russian Mars probe which had been launched from Kazachstan on Saturday reentered atmosphere on Sunday at 8:30 EST and parts crashed at 31 degrees South, 96.3 degrees West into the sea, while most of it may be burned. The craft carried four little batteries, containing altogether 200 grams of plutonium. Concerns had risen that it could come down in Australia, possibly spreading the plutonium over inhabited areas. The Russian space agency however stated that the canisters were designed to withstand great heat and great stress on impact.
