Aug 30, 1996 (UPI) -- Japan's communication ministry hopes to
set up a new division to study whether electromagnetic waves
emitted from  devices such as mobile phones, televisions and
power lines can be  harmful to people. The ministry's planned
division will draw up regulatory measures if studies show that
the waves are harmful, Kozo Ibata of the ministry of Posts and
Telecommunications said.            

Aug 30, 1996 (Reuter) - India gave notice Friday it would  
demand a two-thirds vote in the U.N. General Assembly on a 
nuclear test ban treaty it opposed but would not move to
prevent  the 185-member body from debating the issue.
