A problem with the dropping time of control rods in both units of the plant had been completely solved, an official said, a damaged exciter in Unit 2 had been transported to Britain for repairs a few months ago and after repairs had been installed in Unit 1 where it was operating well. --- -- - 4 June 1996 (Reuter) - The United States has tentatively endorsed a proposal by South Africa to admit 23 states -- including Iraq, Israel and North Korea -- to the Conference on Disarmament, diplomats said on Tuesday. The United Nations-sponsored forum, the world's main disarmament negotiating body, is expected to debate the controversial proposal at a plenary on Thursday, they added.
