      30 April 1996 (Reuter) - A top-level Canadian delegation
was locked in talks with the Chinese government to finalise a
$2.55 billion deal to build two nuclear reactors in southern
China, diplomats and power industry officials said. An
official at the China National Nuclear Corp said in a
telephone interview that talks about the construction of two
700-megawatt heavy-water nuclear reactors at Qinshan near
Shanghai were underway.

      30 April 1996 (Reuter) - Police closed a main high-speed
train link in northern Germany for 90 minutes after receiving
a bomb threat from suspected anti-nuclear activists. There
have been a number of sabotage attempts on rail tracks in
recent weeks by activists protesting against a delivery of
nuclear waste from the French La Hague reprocessing plant
expected to take place between May 6 and 9.
