Feb 10 1996 (Reuter) - Russian authorities have admitted for the first time that highly radioactive plutonium smuggled into Germany from Moscow in August 1994 stemmed from an ageing research reactor at Obninsk, southwest of Moscow, German media reported on Saturday. A Colombian named Torres was one of three men seized at Munich airport together with 363 grams (12.8 ounces) of plutonium by police who had been tipped off by German undercover agents. Feb. 11 1996 (UPI) -- Israel plans to deploy its first Arrow anti- missile weapon within two years, Defense Ministry Director General David Ivri said Sunday. The Arrow should reach "a minimum operational capability" by that time, Ivri said. During the second Gulfwar, dozens of Iraqi Scud missiles slammed into Israel. The Israeli leaders feared much worse is in store should Iran obtain nuclear weapons and missiles to deliver them. The U.S. has heavily subsidized the Arrow program.
