     30 Oct 1995 (Reuter) - David Newman, president of
Greenpeace in Italy said they were considering suing the
French navy after commandos from a French warship stormed one
of their vessels in an Italian port last week. Newman said the
Altair suffered $50,000 in damage, including a big gash in its
stern from hitting the quay. The French military has defended
the raid, saying the Altair had rammed the Dupleix to prevent
it leaving the harbour.


     30 Oct 1995 (Reuter) - Australia urged the International
Court of Justice to decline to give an opinion on whether
nuclear weapons are legal, but said the court, if it did give
advice, should declare a ban on all nuclear arms. About 25
nations, including nuclear powers Britain, France, Russia and
the United States, are to give testimony to the court in the
next two and half weeks.
