THE VENDOR MANUAL RECOMMENDS USE | | OF AN ETHYLENE GLYCOL ANTIFREEZE SOLUTION WHEN AIR TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW | | 35 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. AIR TEMPERATURES BELOW 35 DEGREES ARE OCCASIONALLY | | NOTED AT CR-3, AND NO ANTIFREEZE SOLUTION HAS BEEN USED IN THE EMERGENCY | | DIESEL GENERATOR UNITS. A STEP IN THE TEST RECOVERY | | PROCEDURE PLACES THE MODE SELECTOR SWITCH FOR THE EDG THAT WAS CARRYING THE | | BUSES (#G04) TO THE "START" POSITION. WHEN THE SWITCH WAS REPOSITIONED, | | BOTH EDG OUTPUT BREAKERS OPENED AND DEENERGIZED THE BUSES. THIS WAS NOT | | EXPECTED. NONE OF THE SAFEGUARDS EQUIPMENT ACTUATED BECAUSE THEY WERE IN A | | TEST CONDITION, BUT THE EQUIPMENT WOULD HAVE ACTUATED IN A NORMAL LINEUP. | | | | DURING THE TEST, A "LOSS OF FIELD" ALARM AT THE EDG LOCKED IN. THE CAUSE | | OF THIS ALARM IS NOT YET UNDERSTOOD. UPON REVIEW, THIS ALARM IN | | COMBINATION WITH PLACING THE MODE SELECTOR SWITCH TO THE "START" POSITION | | WOULD BE EXPECTED TO OPEN THE EDG OUTPUT BREAKERS. | | | | ALL BUSES HAVE BEEN RECOVERED PER PLANT ABNORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURES. | | ALL SAFEGUARDS BUSES ARE CURRENTLY BEING SUPPLIED BY OFFSITE POWER. | | BOTH "B" TRAIN EDGs ARE CURRENTLY INOPERABLE. THE UFSAR | | REQUIRES THAT RUPTURE FLOW BE TERMINATED WITHIN 30 MINUTES.
