Dave Sager, a VP from the corporate office, has taken Kraft's position as the Site VP. He has previous experience as a site VP at St Lucie. Jerry Walker from corporate assessment office will be taking over from Famulari as the manager of the Quality and Safety Assessment Department. On March 19, 1998, Dave Sager informed the resident inspector that the Quad Cities plant manager, Dave Cook had resigned and that Bill Pearce would take that position. Fitzpatrick, Executive Vice-President Nuclear Generation will retire. Mr. Fitzpatrick has headed the Nuclear Generation Group since 1991. Mr. Fitzpatrick retired for personal reasons. MR Number: 4-98-0014 Arkansas Nuclear 2 Date: 03/23/98 Russelville,Arkansas Dockets: 50-368 PWR/CE Subject: REACTOR STARTUP FOLLOWING MIDCYCLE OUTAGE Discussion: On March 20, 1998, Unit 2 began a startup from a scheduled midcycle outage. Reactor startup began at 9 p.m. on March 20, 1998. Reactor criticality was achieved at 12:39 a.m. on March 21 and, later that day, at 9:38 a.m. the main generator was connected to the grid. As of 7:30 a.m. on March 23, 1998, Unit 2 was at 29 percent power and increasing power to 100 percent. Unit 2 began the midcycle outage on February 20, 1998. Major planned activities accomplished during the outage included steam generator tube inspections and repairs, preparations for the Unit 2 condenser replacement in Refueling Outage 2R13, an electrical penetration replacement, modifications to three closed cooling water containment isolation valve actuators, replacement of the 'C' reactor coolant pump (RCP) seal, and lowering of a main steam isolation system actuation setpoint. Major unplanned activities included repair of a leak in the 'A' shutdown heat exchanger and replacement of the 'A' RCP seal.
