Subject: announcement of new chief nuclear engineer                      

Discussion:

Description: On July 17, 1998, the licensee announced that Mr. Rick      
Eckstein will assume the position of Chief Nuclear Engineer for American 
Electric Power, replacing Mr. Don Hafer who was Acting Chief Nuclear     
Engineer. Mr. Hafer replaced Mr A. A. Blind who was previously Vice      
President, Nuclear Engineering and had resigned on June 1, 1998. Mr.     
Eckstein is on loan from INPO for 12 to 24 months. Also, Mr Larry Weber  
reported onsite today and is in the transition phase of becoming the     
Operations Manager replacing Mr. B. Gillespie. Mr. Weber was previously  
from Braidwood.

Subject: ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES ANNOUNCED                                

Discussion:

On July 20, 1998, the following organizational changes were announced.   
The personnel listed will serve in an acting capacity pending OPPD Board 
approval.  Sudesh Gambhir will be Acting Division Manager - Nuclear      
Operations.  Joe Solmossy, as Acting Manager - Fort Calhoun Station, will
report to Mr. Gambhir.  Jim Chase will be Acting Division Manager -      
Nuclear Assessments.  Ralph Phelps will be Acting Division Manager -     
Engineering.  Mary Tesar will be Acting Division Manager - Support       
Services.  The four acting division managers will report to Gary Gates,  
Vice President.
