Subject: PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION SEEKS INTERESTED BUYERS           

Discussion:

On April 16, 1998, Boston Edison Company (BECo) issued letters soliciting
expressions of interest in purchasing the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station  
(PNPS).  The letters were sent to more than 100 firms worldwide with     
experience in operating nuclear power plants.  BECo, which agreed to sell
its oil and gas fuel power plants last December, now plans to divest its 
nuclear generation as well.
