Tappert NEW ISSUE. The vendor reports that a starting air distributor filter element, part number SB-006-002, has questionable micron rating. These filters are used on Enterprise DSR-4 and DSRV-4 diesel engines. Inspection of such elements in storage showed variation in color among different elements and that some elements lacked the stamped micron rating. Independent laboratory testing is under way to ascertain whether filters of an incorrect micron rating have been supplied to nuclear customers. This evaluation is expected to be completed by November 30, 1998. _ HEADQUARTERS MORNING REPORT PAGE 2 NOVEMBER 10, 1998 Licensee/Facility: Notification: Part 21 Database MR Number: H-98-0156 Rosemount Date: 11/10/98 Subject: Part 21 - Incorrectly reported radiation performance data Discussion: VENDOR: Rosemount PT21 FILE NO: 98-67-0 DATE OF DOCUMENT: 10/16/98 ACCESSION NUMBER: SOURCE DOCUMENT: EN 34923 REVIEWER: PECB, T. Koshy NEW ISSUE: The vendor reports incorrectly tabulated and reported information on the radiation performance of Rosemount Model 1154 Series H Alphaline Nuclear Pressure Transmitters. This results in a small change in the 30-minute radiation accuracy when exposed to 55 mega rads of total integrated radiation. The corrected specification that encompasses all test results is +/- (0.25% of upper range limit + 0.75% of span) and it is slightly lower than the previously published specification of +/- (0.2% of upper range limit + 0.2% of span). All other radiation and other accident level specifications are unaffected. _ HEADQUARTERS MORNING REPORT PAGE 3 NOVEMBER 10, 1998 MR Number: H-98-0157 NRR DAILY REPORT ITEM GENERIC COMMUNICATIONS Subject: GENERIC LETTER 98-05 ISSUED NRC Generic Letter 98-05: Boiling Water Reactor Licensees Use of the BWRVIP-05 Report to Request Relief from Augmented Examination Requirements on Reactor Pressure Vessel Circumferential Shell Welds Dated November 10, 1998 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued this generic letter to inform addressees that the NRC staff has completed its review of the "BWR Vessel and Internals Project [BWRVIP], BWR Reactor Pressure Vessel Shell Weld Inspection Recommendations (BWRVIP-05)," and that licensees of BWRs may request permanent (i.e., for the remaining term of operation under the existing, initial, license) relief from the inservice inspection requirements of 10 CFR 50.55a(g) for the volumetric examination of circumferential reactor pressure vessel (RPV) welds.
