Subject: ANNOUNCEMENT OF FURTHER ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES                  

Discussion:

On January 5 Douglas E. Cooper will join the nuclear generation group.   
After an indoctrination and transition period, Mr. Cooper will assume the
position of Plant Manager, Cook Nuclear Plant, reporting to John Sampson,
Site Vice-President.                                                     
                                                                         
Before joining American Electric Power, Mr. Cooper was Nuclear Division  
Corrective Action Manager at Commonwealth Edison Company. Mr. Cooper     
served in Navy's nuclear program for six years. He subsequently received 
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Christopher Newport College.
He joined Commonwealth Edison in 1979 and held positions in training,    
operations, regulatory assurance, and plant engineering, primarily at    
Braidwood Nuclear Station between 1979 and 1996. Prior to the promotion  
to his current position in the Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Division      
Headquarters, Mr. Cooper served as Operations Manager at Braidwood. Mr.  
Cooper was originally licensed by the NRC as a Senior Reactor Operator in
the early 1980's and served a number of years as a control room          
supervisor and as a shift manager.
