Subject: SENIOR MANAGEMENT CHANGE                                        

Discussion:

Mr. Keith Schwartz has been named as Station Manager for the Braidwood   
Station. Licensee management stated that Mr. Schwartz will begin duties  
as Station Manager on approximately November 5, 1997. Mr. Schwartz joined
ComEd in 1973 and has held leadership positions at all levels, including 
Station Manager at Byron and Zion. The Station Manager position was      
recently vacated when the previous Station Manager, Mr. Tim Tulon was    
promoted to the position of Site Vice President.

Subject: UNIT 2 RESTART FOLLOWING FORCED OUTAGE                          

Discussion:

Palo Verde Unit 2 synchronized to the grid at 11:43 p.m. (MST) on        
October 28, 1997, following an outage in which they replaced the Reactor 
Coolant Pump (RCP) 2B lower motor bearing.  Operators had manually       
tripped Unit 2 at 10:50 a.m. on October 20, 1997, due to RCP 2B high     
motor bearing temperature and increasing pump vibration (PN4-97-058). The
root cause of the bearing failure is still under investigation.  The     
startup was completed with no problems.  The licensee anticipates        
achieving full power late on October 30, 1997.                           

Regional Action:

The resident inspectors are monitoring the licensee's power ascension.
