Subject: MANAGEMENT CHANGES                                              

Discussion:

Carolina Power and Light (CP&L) announced on September 10, 1997, that    
Director of Site Operations, Bill Levis, and Training Manager, Rich      
Lopriore, have announced their intent to resign from CP&L and accept     
positions with Ontario Hydro, the Canadian operator of multiple nuclear  
generating plants.                                                       
                                                                         
Both Levis and Lopriore will remain in their current positions until they
leave the site in two weeks.  After Levis leaves the site, Hinnant will  
take on the DSO responsibilities until a replacement is named.  A new    
training manager is expected to be selected prior to Lopriore's          
departure.
