Subject: Engineering Reoirganization                                     

Discussion:

On 4/7/97, PSE&G announced a reorganization of the Nuclear Engineering   
Department. Effective immediately, four engineering directors will report
to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, Mr. E. C. Simpson. The      
directors are: Mark Reddemann, Director of Salem Design Engineering and  
Fuels, Mark McGough, Director of Plant Engineering and Projects, Gary    
Overbeck, Director of Hope Creek and Component Engineering, and Mike     
Rencheck, Director of Salem System Engineering. The licensee made these  
changes to improve oversight of Salem and Hope Creek engineering         
activities.                                                              

Regional Action:

The Region will monitor the effectiveness of the change in engineering   
oversight.

Discussion:

Dr. James T. Rhodes, Virginia Power President and Chief Executive Officer
(CEO), announced his retirement to be effective August 1, 1997.          
                                                                         
Dr. Rhodes was employed by Virginia Power in 1971.  He became President  
and CEO of Virginia Power in 1989.                                       
                                                                         
No one has been designated as his replacement as of this date.

CP&L announced on April 8, 1997, that Mr. Bruce Meyer, currently Manager 
- Operations at H. B. Robinson Plant has been selected as Manager of     
Operations at the Harris Plant.  He is replacing Mr. Steve Sewell who    
will be reassigned to another position within the Nuclear Generation     
Group following a two week turnover period.  (Reference Morning Report

Discussion:

CP&L announced on April 8, 1997, that Mr. John Boska has been selected as
Manager of Operations at the H.B. Robinson Plant.  He is replacing Mr.   
Bruce Meyer who has accepted the Manager of Operations position at the   
Harris Plant.  Mr. Talmage Clements will replace Mr. Boska as            
Superintendent-Design Control. Mr. Jim Henderson has been named to the   
Supervisor-Reactor Systems position previously held by Mr. Talmage
