The main generator output breakers were closed at 2 a.m. on November 27, ending Refueling Outage 16. Major work completed during the outage included refueling, reconstitution of 9 leaking fuel assemblies, steam generator tube eddy current testing and subsequent plugging of 57 tubes, and replacement of a reactor coolant pump motor. The outage, which lasted 53 days, had originally been scheduled to last 44 days. The extension was primarily due to additional testing of steam generator tubes and repair of a circulating water pump discharge check valve. Additionally, prior to plant startup, the licensee took actions to provide an interim resolution to the containment cooler water hammer issue discussed in Generic Letter 96-06. Regional Action: The resident inspectors are performing routine startup coverage of licensee activities. Contact: W. Walker (402)426-9611 _
