Dear Roger,

In this edition of Sea Shepherd's E-News, I am honored to announce our latest Antarctic whale defense campaign: Operation Migaloo. Sea Shepherd has drawn a line in the sand and will not stand idly by while Japanese whalers target nearly 1000 whales for certain death, including 50 endangered humpback whales and 10 endangered fin whales in the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary.

SSCS Returns to Antarctica for Operation Migaloo

Op Mig LogoIn December 2007, Captain Paul Watson will lead Sea Shepherd's fourth expedition to the remote southern waters off the coast of Antarctica.  As the relentless Japanese whalers seek to hunt down and kill endangered whales, we will be hunting the whalers with the firm objective of intervention against their illegal activities.

Makah Whalers Torture and Kill Gray Whale

Gray WhaleIn blatant violation of international and U.S. law, five members of the Makah tribe illegally shot and killed a resident gray whale on Saturday, September 9, 2007.

"This was a vicious and cowardly act," said Captain Paul Watson.

Reminder: Breaking The Ice Fundraiser to Benefit Sea Shepherd's Direct Action Campaigns

SSCS CelebrationDon't forget: Breaking the Ice, a Sea Shepherd Benefit hosted by the Yari Film Group, will take place on October 13 in Santa Monica, CA.  Co-hosted by Mick Jagger and Pierce Brosnan, this star-studded event will be a special evening dedicated to raising the funds needed to continue Sea Shepherd's direct action campaigns on the high seas.

We have named our latest campaign in honor of Migaloo - an endangered albino humpback - who has become a national icon in Australia. This year, the sights of the ruthless Japanese harpooners are set square on the endangered humpbacks, meaning that Migaloo and all of his family are under imminent threat of death at the hands of Japanese pirate whalers. Our dedicated crew of international volunteers will be spending their holidays in the frigid waters at the bottom of the world. With your continuing support, we will not be alone in Antarctica, and neither will Migaloo or his family.
